Proposals are being made at the state Capitol to modify the new tort system, which requires the driver who caused an accident to pay for the damage. Other proposals include the insurers being required to give a more detailed explanation of the coverage options for emergency medical care.
Another proposal suggests that companies be asked to offer policies with medical coverage but allow consumers to opt out if they wish to. However, medical coverage isn’t urgently required, and drivers with separate health insurance coverage can depend on them whenever they are hurt.
